Introduction

Predictive Analytics is the use of current/historical data to make predictions about the future. This web application was built using React Javascript based on a a linear regression model trained on Los Angeles historical crime data. The Application predicts future crime counts. The crime count is calculated using the model parameters from the Linear Regression and the result is appended to a table on the page.

Disclaimer

The dataset reflects arrest incidents in the City of Los Angeles dating back to 2010. This data is transcribed from original arrest reports that are typed on paper and therefore there may be some inaccuracies within the data. Some location fields with missing data are noted as (0.0000°, 0.0000°). Address fields are only provided to the nearest hundred block in order to maintain privacy. This data is as accurate as the data in the database. The dataset is available at data.lacity.org. It contains about 1.31 million records.
